Equipment list for the transition area:

  1. Swim equipment:
  • Goggles
  • Swim cap (usually provided for the race)
  • Wet suit (if allowed)
  • Body Glide - to help put swim suit on

Bike Equipment:
  • Bike
  • Helmet (mandatory - no helmet, no ride)
  • Bike shoes
  • Socks (many racers go without but don't try going without on race day)
  • Gloves (optional)
  • Full water bottle or 2
  • Spare tube
  • Tire pump or C02 pump
  • Tire levers
  • Seat bag for tube & levers
  • Fuel - energy bar or gel
  • Sun glasses - (optional)

Run Equipment
  • Running shoes
  • Visor or hat (optional but recommended)
  • Sunglasses (optional)
  • Socks

Other equipment or tips:
  • Sunscreen
  • ID, Money, USATriathlon license or 1 day license, registration confirmation
  • Map to the event
  • Post race clothing
  • Rain gear
  • Race number - will be given in race packet.  Most races only need it worn on the run.  A race belt is
    recommended as it is easy to snap on while running.
  • Towel: To place on the ground under your bike as a clean place to place your shoes and gear
  • Gear bag: 1 place to keep all of your gear for easy transport to and from the race
  • Flip flops or sandals: For pre and post race so you don't get your running shoes wet from the grass
  • Tip: pump your tires BEFORE dropping off your bike at the transition area. This will save room and time.
